Ubuntu 11.04 kept Skype visual not audio-Help

Asked by barb dellesky

I had an old version of Ubuntu on my computer. I installed & used LifeCamStudio 1080p HD camera for visual (it has audio capability but only for Microsoft) so I use a hand held plug in microphone & all was working well to Skype with family members overseas. Decided to run a long over due weekly update & updated to 11.04. Skype visual works but not audio. How can I get audio?

Do you mean there is a mic on the camera or that you get no audio from people calling you?

There is a mic on the camera but I've never gotten it to work. Also in the LifeCamStudio 1080pHD box that the camera came in is an audio CD to install (supposedly to make the mic on the camera work). I've not installed it because Best Buy told me not to . Best Buy said the camera in the box (marked Microsoft) would work with my system but the CD for audio (in the same box) would not. So I use for audio just a hand held microphone I plug in & it used to work just fine with my voice going out. I do get audio from my relatives out of country to me, though.

If you open sound settings. Is the mic set as the mic device?

Can you help with this problem?
