Just tried it and I've never seen it slower. Took over a minute to connect to the login screen. 10.10, Skype Beta 2.1.0.81

I believe waiting is the only possible solution at this point. I also tried connecting to Skype yesterday and it was just annoyingly slow, but established a connection in the end.

Thanks Phil...it does NOT connect today either.
Interestingly...it works fine on a Windows XP machine.

It seems the problem started after a big update that included google chrome...
Don't know it that had anything to do with Skype not working on Ubuntu for the
last two days...?

Are you using the latest Skype Linux beta? Click on the little blue cloud with the black triangle and then the about menu to get the version. Anything earlier than 2.1.0.81 should be upgraded. Maybe they cut off support for older betas. Skype is still working in my 10.10 installation.

Thanks...I'm using Skype Beta version 2.1.0.81.
I reinstalled it twice and no luck.
It was working fine last week. After the "chrome" update
I believe it stopped working. What else can I try...?
Strange...

It Works!
In a different menu (not under options)...I was somehow offline.
I changed it to "online" and it now works.
