skype will not work on my ubuntu os, I just get a message that it is unsupported

  skype will not work on my ubuntu os, I get a message stating that this program is unsupported. Thereseems to be no where to go from there
              I think it is 10.04LTS the Lucid Lynx

I think it is 10.04 LTS
  I tried to install a download from skype,it is on my computor. but even when reinstalled seems unavailable

If you add the partner repo you can install it from there
