WebCam problem with Skype

Asked by Yeti

Hello! As I said I'm having a problem with Webcam in Skype. Connected Genius Eye 110 via USB and it works with Cheese, Camera Monitor indicates that it's on, but when in Skype there is no video call button during call and in Skype video options when I click Test button nothing happens like it doesn't click at all.
It's same with Canyon CNR-WCAM813, works in Cheese but in Skype - no, same problem.
Both cameras were tried on 2 32 bit PCs - Ubuntu 10.04

I tried Canyon CNR-WCAM813 on 64b PC with 64b Ubuntu installed and it works in Skype. But I do not think that is causing the problem.

Just to mention that both cameras work fine on win XP/7...

Does anyone have solution?
Thanks in advance!

Please try this link : http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/linux/post-download/

1- download the "correct version" for your operating system, if the problem still persists then try pre-loading the video by typing
    this in a terminal: LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /usr/bin/skype "$@"

This starts skype and in that instance video calls can be made. But is there some permanent solution?
