For 32-bit
cd ~; wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-ubuntu-32

For 64-bit
cd ~/; wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-ubuntu-64

You will need to install the following libraries.
sudo apt-get install libqt4-dbus libqt4-network libqt4-xml libasound2

Now install skype(the file u just downloaded, may be named intrepid-ibex)

cd ~/; sudo dpkg -i foo

(replace foo with the filename (case sensitive) which is downloaded)

If you still get some dependency error then just type the command below

sudo apt-get -f install

this will install the dependencies and the skype.

hi ive found out that it is 32 bit. and i have just tried to go to http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-ubuntu-32
but it says webpage cannot be found. the notebook is really slow and i think it's just giving up searching for the webpage, because its taking too long? I really dont know what to do now

i asked the same question myself, and this was the reply:

'1. Can this laptop install Windows XP/Vista/7, also can it install applications/softwares on it?

NO, it can only support Windows CE platform. It can only install applications/softwares that can be operated on Windows CE platfo...rm. '

i feel it is hopeless, all i want is skype.

If your OS is windows then install the Windows version of skype and your support isn't here.

If your OS is Ubuntu yuor suuport is here and you need to load a terminal (you can use CTRL + ALT + T as a shortcut or use teh menus) and paste the relevant commands in there

Simple

Naomi,

Just to be clear - linux software will NOT run on "Windows CE" devices/platform. You need to use "Windows CE" software on Windows CE operating system.

Best of luck,
George

Thank you George

I have hence decided to just sell it to where I bought it from, and my friend has since offered to sell me his old laptop, rebuilt with everything on it that i need.

Thanks for your time

Naomi
