Skype only work for a few seconds

Hi there guys does anyone know why my Skype only work for a few seconds? And how do I get it to work? I'm using Ubuntu 10.4.

Skype for linux does not work. there is no error nothing it only stop after 5 seconds from making a call.

Can you tell me which version skype your using if your using old one just install new skype from their website

Yes I can tell you. I'm using "Beta 2.1.0.81"
The latest I believe.

OK this is latest one.

Do one thing just remove/uninstall skype and restart the system and Update the system (System >Administration>Update Manger)

then again install skype. Now test it....

Thank you, it work fine now. But do you know why I had to re install almost all the software?
