HP Envy 4500 scan worked perfectly; then stopped.

HP Envy 4500 printer and scanner worked perfectly ever since I changed to Ubuntu 2 years ago and installed Simple Scan (Brilliant). . 4 weeks ago simple scan suddenly informed me " no scanner detected". The printer though still works perfectly.

When I switch to Windows (Sorry) the scanner is connected and works.

The problem is that Simple scan says" no scanner detected" and "Connect and turn on your scanner"when it is on and connected.
The connection has always been wifi.

Any thoughts welcome.

If you run:

sudo simple-scan

Does it work OK?

What is the output of:

sudo sane-find-scanner; lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy simple-scan
