simple scan comes disappears

Asked by Willem Eijgenraam on 2020-01-30

Have Linux Mint as my OS. Used Simple Scan to my great satisfaction, until I tried other software, for which I uninstalled Simple Scan, through the use of Software Manager. I find Simple Scan better that others for my work, so wanted to re-install it. Did so, but what happens now is the following. It is available in the menu, but activating it is seems to load, but the IMMEDIATELY disappears, so it cannot be use ! I have tried If I could find it somewhere hidden but NO. Only have XSANE, which is somewhat more complicated.

Looking in HOME --> SCAN I find the two folders of the same names in which a lot of files.

My question is: If I delete the SCAN file under HOME and try to install Simple Scan again with Program Manager, do I damage a lot or is it worth a try ? Or should I do something else ? I have passed 3/4 of a century in age over 10 years and have only recently started trying Linux
