What do you expect from "adding a copy button to main toolbar"?
Just adding a button will do nothing. I assume that you would additionally have to enhance the program with functionality to redirect the scan input to a printer, etc.

For hints how to change the application I suggest that you have a look at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-scan/

It will make it easier for my wife to use. The printer itself has 3 buttons on the front. It would also be nice to have it fire off a copy by pushing a button. Thanks

I misspoke. The scanner has 3 buttons on the front , one of which is a copy/scan button. It would be nice if the buttons worked as intended.
Thanks
Dale

So you want to be able to use the button on the printer to kick off a print?

If so, if you load the applicdation, then press the button, does it work OK?

What make and model is that scanner/printer device?
What does the user manual tell about that button?

The scanner is an Acer640BU. The buttons worked with the provided Windows drivers and software. Its all out of date now however. I could try setting it up in wine, but I am not sure if is worth the effort.
