Any plan to support scangearmp2 based new CANON PIXMA scanners?

Asked by Xavi on 2017-11-06

Simple Scan is an awesome app that I've been happily using for years (after xsane, etc). I recently had to replace my oldish Canon Multifunction printer-scanner (PIXMA MG3200) by a new model, called Canon PIXMA MG3051. This model can play in ubuntu with some drivers fetched from Canon website, which install scangearmp2 but not scangearmp (not the number 2 at the end). This seems to imply that Simple Scan doesn't recognize the scanner, and therefore, you can use Simple Scan to interact with your scanner.

See some more details at:

And the former models from Canon (such as my defunct MG3200):

Thanks!

Have you tried contacting Canon directly? They may assist you

Do you mean that they may assist me to make simple-scan recognize the driver? Can they tweak the code of simple-scan?

Can you help with this problem?
