Will need a little more information. I did not see any support in Sane for a 3170. Is there another designation by chance. Unfortunately, not every scanner will be configured. Are there any other designations in the model number. An example is that I just installed an Epson Perfection 3490 Photo Scanner. It was very difficult for me to do, but I did it with much help from other and research. Post some more informantion.

No, the printer seems to print but actually does not!
