Μια καλή αρχή για να σε βοηθήσουν σε οποιοδήποτε πρόβλημα έχεις με το ubuntu είναι να κάνεις μια ερώτηση στο ελληνικό ubuntu forum εδώ

για το scanner εγκατέστησε το πρόγραμμα xsane και δες αν σου δουλεύει ο scanner με αυτό.
