How do I install drivers for an epson V500 scanner

Asked by Alan Moorfield

I have tried to install drivers for the V500 in the latest Ubutu release 12.10, but the software installer does not recognise the latest drivers from Epson. I had no problems with previous releases. is there a way around this?
