printer and scanner won't work

i recently put ubuntu 11.10 on my laptop, i have a lexmark s300-s400 printer/scanner. will it work? if yes what do i need to install?

printing will probably work (no guarantee). i do not know if scanning can be expected to work, but if you provide a more precise model number, searching for information will be easier.
