Printer set up and printing, but scanner isn't recognized HP PSC 500

Asked by Carole Weikle on 2012-02-26

I have installed my printer HP PSC 500, I am printing without problem, however when trying to scan a document I am getting an error that the scanner is not connected. This is a scanner/printer/copier model. I have tried shutting down and restart - I have disconnected and reconnected the printer/scanner/copier - I have deleted and re-installed on my system. I can not get the scanner to be recognized.

Have you tried xsane?

I have not heard of this, what is the purpose and or process to use this??

Please install and use xsane package to try to scan

Michael Nagel (nailor) said : #4

xsane is another scanning program (more mature than simple-scan, but also more complex (but should be manageable for testing scans)). the information if it works with xsane helps to track down the issue.

Can you help with this problem?
