Ubuntu 11.04 won't reqonize Canoscan Lide 700f

Canoscan Lide 700f hooked up to Ubuntu 11.04 but it won't recognise it. What program(s) should I install to make it work?

I do not believe canon have provided a linux driver for that device, or that anyone has reverse engineered the protocol for that device at this time.

A quick search on the SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) (the program that has the reverse engineered drivers in it) database shows that the device has had a preliminary analysis done on it, but no driver developed.
