Epson Stylus NX420 scanner how to made it works

Asked by gerard molloy

I finally got my Epson Stylus NX420 printer to function, however it does not scan. When I try to scan, the window on the printer reads "Communication error. Check the connection." I checked the connection and it seems fine. Besides which, the connection must be good, or the printer wouldn't function. Any suggestions?

Have you downloaded and installed the iscan and iscan-data packages from the avasys pages?

If not, please go to http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do
select your printer/Scanner model (Epson ME OFFICE 560W,Epson Stylus NX420/SX420W/SX425W/TX420W), distribution=Ubuntu, distribution version matching your version, and press 'Next'.
On the next page you need the iscan-data_***.deb and iscan_***.deb packages matching your version and architecture (see http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/faq/id000651.php for info) and the installation instructions.
In the installation instructions you have to use the instructions for 'Debian package', and ignore all RPM stuff!

Can you help with this problem?
