Simple Scan app no longer communicates to HP Printer

Asked by Casey Frost

Earlier today I was using the Simple Scan program to scan photos onto my computer using the HP psc 2175 all-in-one printer. Although I wasn't crazy about this particular scan application it was getting the job done until it was about halfway through one job and the program cancelled the job with the printer. I haven't been able to get anything to scan since. I disconnected printer from computer, rebooted both printer and computer, checked all the connections, can't find a damn thing wrong except that it doesn't work.

My mother's Memorial Service is this Saturday, March 5th and I've been working as hard and fast as I can to get pictures of her scanned into the computer so my brother in law can put together a good slide show for during the service. I'm running out of time. PLEASE help me ASAP!!!

Grab the latest HPLIP and install it in a terminal as user (don't use sudo). After, remove the printer from the printer dialogue and reboot. Should be ok
