Can't scan documents using SCSI scanner

Hi, I am new to Ubuntu. I have a EPSON GT-9500 scanner connected to my PC through a SCSI device. When I use <sudo sane-find-scanner> it shows

"found SCSI processor "EPSON SCANNER GT-9500 1.12" at /dev/sg0
  # Your SCSI scanner was detected. It may or may not be supported by SANE. Try
  # scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage."

When I try this it says:

"No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages)."

It is turned on etc.

According to the SANE supported scanner list the GT-9500 is supported.

When I try to use Simple Scan it says:

"No Scanner detected. Please check your scanner is connected and powered on."

I have tried various options I have searched on the Internet and Ubuntu pages for more than 5 hours. I would really love to get this sorted, as I am trying to move away from Windows for all my PC tasks.

I am trying to set up my scanner for everyday scanning in Ubuntu.
