scanner gone green

My Microtek 4800 scanner is recognized by xsane but scans only in green. It won't load a profile or use any icc file I can find.
When I installed Vuescan (which some forum users said cured their color problems) it won't recognize the scanner at all, although on its site it says that the Microtek works well. Must I go back to 10.04 to get this working again?

Hi wca, I do not think this is related to SImple Scan, but to other scanning programs. And even then I think this is about scanner drivers (SANE,libsane might be involved). Best Regards, Michael
