Epson CX5200 worked in 10.04, 10.10 recognizes scanner as Epson CC-600PX

Performed clean install with printer attached, as well as a clean install with printer attached after install. Printer function works as expected and is recognized as a CX5200.

The scanner function performed as expected under 10.04, however when I performed a clean install of 10.10 the printer was recognized ad a CX5200 and simple scan reports the wrong scanner Epson CC-600px.

Trying to select a different scanner results in only the CC-600px being displayed.

For some reason simple scan is misidentifying the scanner.

:Looked at the other issues / bugs and they all relate to crashes or not recognizing the scanner at all so I did not link as this seems to be a new issue

Intel P4 if it makes a difference

well, i'd say not recognizing the scanner is the same as loading the wrong driver, so i'd link it. nothing really you can do about it because linux support from canon is weak at best, i hear.

i have a canon MFP, and scanning and faxing don't work.

I had the same issue using Simple-Scan. I was able to get My Epson CX5200 running by installing the 'ImageScan' application from Avasys (http://avasys.jp/eng/; apparently they provide drivers/apps for Epson devices). I downloaded the two files for scanning (since printing worked fine), installed the 'data' file first, then the other file, and it worked fine.

I tried providing a link to the download page itself, but the site apparently doesn't allow it, but they provide an easy search page on the Linux Drivers section, and even provided ".deb" files for installation on Ubuntu.

I have installed ImageScan, tried scanning and found it worked great. Also rebooted, and had no issues.

Hope this helps others having trouble with Epson devices.

Can you help with this problem?
