[ColorPage-Vivid 1200x] Unable to scan

Asked by William Pabon

I have a Genius ColorPage-Vivid 1200x scanner. When I try to use Simple scan I get the message Failed to scan because there were no scanners available. Using XSane I get a similar response. But, when I use my pc in Windows XP mode, the scanner operates correctly. Please, help me troubleshoot this situation. Thanks.

David:

Yes, the scanner is on the list with a "good" rating. The info talks about a sane-gt68xx library that I suppose needs to be implemented (too advanced for me to understand, yet). Still need help to make this scanner work. thanks for the help.

Additional info. Don't know if it helps for the solution. I ran:sudo lsusb and got the following list:

[sudo] password for williepabon:

It looks like Ubuntu recognizes the scanner at Bus 005.

Try installing libsane-extras from Synaptic Package Manager if not already installed. That package offers support for Colorpage-vivid scanners.

Found this link after posting my last message. Seems like these steps will get your scanner working. Worth a shot if my first post doesn't do it. Post back with your results.
