Simple Scan will only scan one image with Lexmark Printer

I have a Lexmark x2690 printer and I am trying to scan images with Simple Scan. It will only allow me to scan one image. When I try to scan a second image it says Failed to Scan, Unable to start scan. If I restart my computer it will let me scan one image then I get the same error message. Please help!
