[Epson Perfection V350 Photo Scanner] not recognised

Using Ubuntu 10.4. Have Epson Perfection V350 Photo Scanner. Simple scan returns message no scanner detected. Epson help says UNIX file system not supported. Can I get my Scanner running under Ubuntu?

Not by epson itselves: Epson has delegated the task of supporting linux to avaysys:

For my Epson Perfection V10 I had to download Iscan (a rather nice-looking scanner tool) and a plugin for iscan. Both programs together did contain the driver that made xsane and the other scanner tools from linux work with my scanner, as well.

Can you help with this problem?
