I just install the new Ubuntu Lucid. I have canon MP250 that works fine for printing. But I can't use it for scanning. Please help.... Thanks before.

Asked by Ali Akbar Hakim

I have canon MP250. The this multifunction work fine for printing. But it can't handle scanning. When I open scan simple, error message appears "NO SCANNER DETECTED Please check your scanner is connected and powered on". I've checked the connection and the power. there is no problem with that. So I decided to install sane backend via git. this way I found from http://mp610.blogspot.com/2008/04/give-your-scanner-new-freshly-sane.html. Please help me.... Thanks a lots before...

thank you for the answer. but I have done with that one. I've install all the package required like scangearmp-mp250series (v1.40-1). but nothing solve my problem. this multifunction printer works fine on Ubuntu 9.04 both scanning and printing. but on ubuntu 10.04 it still can't handle scanning. on ubuntu 9.04, the printer can handle scanning because of sane-backend for pixma. http://mp610.blogspot.com/2008/04/give-your-scanner-new-freshly-sane.html. this is the link where I can solve the scanning problem for Ubuntu 9.04. but it can't work for ubuntu 10.04. Am I missing something? Thanks before....
