sigrok is provided in the standard Ubuntu repository (universe). You do not need a PPA.
Just open software-center, search for the sigrok package and click 'install'.

bash$ aptitude search ^sigrok
p sigrok
p sigrok-cli
p sigrok-cli:i386

WTF? the software center can't find it (xubuntu 14.04.2 lts) ... i'm pretty sure "aptitude search sigrok" also did not hit last time, but now i could find the packages. maybe it was typo? ... can't find the command in my history anymore ... anyway, thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience.
