can't browse zip files in showimg or gewnview

In my image viewer, I need the zip to act just like a regular folder. Right now, it pops up it's own archive window, wherein I can only view one image at a time and can't scroll wheel through them.

I can do this in windows with ACDSee. Gwenview and Showimg are both supposed to do this by default (dependent on zlib). Gwenview did do it for about a day, and then stopped.

I have tried reinstalling all packages that have to do with zips, and both image viewers, but to no avail.
