Alternative view to "Events?"

Asked by Mark Donchek

Is there a way to view a folder tree of my images as they are organized on my hard drive instead of the "Events" view?

The timeline in Events is not accurate because pictures scanned in via a scanner might have been taken in 2001, yet scanned in 2012. Since the metadata is off for that file's create date it's appearing in the wrong years "Event" folder.

I suppose I can alter the metadata on each file, but they are already organized properly on my hard drive in folders>>subfolders for year>>month so a folder tree view like you get in Picasa would be ideal. Thanks.

Could try f-spot

In shotwell under the View -> Sort Photos. You can change the sort view, does that help any?

Found shotwell to be better than f-spot. I got picasa working under ubuntu so I will just stick with that. Thanks.

Shotwell can't yet show you a folder tree. We plan to add this feature in the next couple of releases, however. See
