Can Shotwell rename image files while importing?

Asked by Steven Wagner

I use multiple cameras and want to change the name of the image files while importing.

I want to do this to ensure that I do not get two images with the same file name.

Thank you.
Steve

Hi,

Shotwell automatically detects the case of two images with the same filename but different image data, and will rename them internally for you. The original filename is preserved in the database, so if you export those images, you'll want to rename them, but if you're worried about accidentally overwriting images due to filename collisions, this is automatically handled for you.

Shotwell automatically renames files if the names conflict, so you don't need to worry about that.

Currently you can change the path that it imports to (Edit->Preferences->Directory structure) but not the image filenames themselves.

Can you help with this problem?
