I wish to consolidate files into ne folder and change the name

I have just imported photographs taken on different days and wish to consolidate them into on folder, not have a folder for each day, and also want the first picture taken to be at the beginning, plus I want to change the name of the consolidated folder. Thaks for your help.

Consolidating events is easy in Shotwell. To do this, just click the "Events" item in the sidebar (not any particular event, the "Events" item itself). You'll then get a view of all of your events. To consolidate them, just select all the events you want consolidated and click the "Merge" button in the toolbar. You can rename the consolidated event by selecting it in the sidebar and pressing F2.

I had the same problem, so I tried to merge the events, but this was no option anymore in the menu, after opening and closing Shotwell and doing some other things.. So when I open Shotwell, I can see my photo-selection, but when I try to download them for printing, my selection isn't found. (I managed to copy them to my Picasa-account, but from there, I can't upload them for printing). Could anyone help me with this? Thanks for your help.
