shotwell won't import photos, photo failed to import due to file or hardware error

I plug in my canon powershot a2000is and it mounts, open shotwell, i select the photos i want to import. i click import selected and it doesn't import any of the photos "due to a file or hardware error".

Looks like that particular camera may not be supported by the GPhoto library:
http://www.gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php

Do you have an SD card reader? You could always pop the memory card out and try importing that way.

My camers is listed and has always worked until now. What is wrong?

No I don't and don't even know what it is. How about just telling me how to fix the problem aside from getting a new system and getting away fro, Ubuntu.
