login password

I am brand new to Ubuntu (Ubuntu 13.04). I want to install it on a machine and I DO NOT want to have to use a password. I want the option just like Windows, which gives you an option: Password: Yes or No.
The fact is, I did install it on a machine and when it asked for a password, I gave it one. HOWEVER, when I subsequently tried to use the password, Ubuntu informed me it has never heard of the password.
Since I don't need, and don't want a password to log into Ubuntu, what can I do about it?

You need to have a password otherwise you will not be able to update your system. You can set your system to only ask for the password when you are making changes such as updating the system or installing software. However, I would not recommend you do this because you are more likely to forget it if you don't use it.
