Is there a way to look up my authentification password?

I can't get anything to install because my password wont work, can I find my password in settings?

Simple answer No. If you could easily find your password then there would be little point in having one. If you have forgotten it then it can be reset however.

First find out your user name. If you don't know already open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and enter

whoami

Next reset the password
