Only guest login available after install w no pw

After using wubi to install Ubuntu I only get "guest" login available and no password will work. At start of install I gave a user acct. name and password. Have uninstalled and reinstalled three times to no avail.

The password is the one you set when you first installed the OS.

Sorry, but that password does not work either. No password I have used works. Further, I do not see my other user id, only guest.

If you boot to root recovery mode and select root, you can run:

passwd foo

and then reset your password there.
