Unknown Administrative Password

I have no idea the administrative password,because this computer was given to me, how do i reset or get the pass key?

Reboot the system and hold SHIFT, select recovery mode and select root. Then run:

passwd foo; reboot

change foo for the username you use.Eg:

passwd andy; reboot

You can now log in with your password and complete admin tasks. I suggest you tell the person who gave you the system that they needed to tell you the password and that you had to do all this stuff.
