Cannot login to server locally

I'm running Ubuntu server 12 and have a strange issue. I cannot log into the server locally. Simply receive an 'Incorrect Login' message. The strange part is, I have no problem logging in remotely. Any idea why this would be?

Try and log in locally, then log in remotely and check the login with one of these methods:

This may sound like a silly response but,
     please make sure that cap lock is NOT on.
