9.04 incorrect password unable to login

Asked by vichu

Installed a new 9.04 Ubuntu in apple Ibook G3 - powerpc.

The installation is complete and for some reason unable to recognize my username and password combination. How do I reset the PW with the CD?

Have tried the intallation several times and no success. I see something about 'grub' etc in the forums but I do not know what it is and how to get to it.

will appreciate your help. I am a senior citizen and am trying to keep the powerPC alive.

emails direct to me very welcome

Jaunty is no longer supported in any way. I suggest you upgrade with a clean install of Oneiric, or wait until April then clean install Precise which will be LTS (long term supported).

when the OS starts. Press ESC and you will see the Grub bootloader. The guide above assumes Grub2 which isn't in Jaunty. The rest of the guide will apply

You can use oneiric but i suggest you use Precise. It is LTS and released very soon. Using the prerelease will mean you will not have to upgrade on release day.
