Won't accept my password, can I recover it?

Asked by curtis taylor

I have not used my computer for a while. When I went to log into my computer, ubuntu said that my password is an "authentication failure." I am sure I know what my password is, even though I have tried several other passwords, nothing lets me into my program. Is there someway I can recover my password, or is there some way I can reset my password. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even more so, is there some way I can by pass the login event, I do not need my computer to be secure.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
