reset root password

new Acer Aspire 5742Z-4685, intel processor p6100 ubuntu linux version 10.4 lucid linux pre-loaded when purchased, no install cd. when i first set the machine up, i forgot to write down the root password and forgot it. how do i find out what it is or reset it?

There is no root password, your user has all the access you need. The link above shows how you can reset your users password
