need to reset password

Im new to ubuntu and downloaded 11.04 and installed perfectly and when it comes to the login screen it has my user from windows but when i typ my password in it states authentication faliure, whats going on?

make sure you don't have caps lock enabled

if you want to reset your password, google "psychocat reset password" and follow the instructions in the link to reset it.

I'd add to marcus's post that:

(1) The password is the one you created when you installed Ubuntu. It is not necessarily the same as your password in Windows on the same machine, even if your Ubuntu username and your Windows username (or your Ubuntu user's full name and your Windows user's full name) are the same.

(2) If you don't remember what password created, then the instructions Marcus referred you to for resetting your password are at http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword.
