I do not remember the password for my Ubuntu account on my desktop.

I am trying to recover my password for my desktop Ubuntu account. I really would like you to send it to me in an email.

Your password is stored locally on your computer. It is furthermore stored in a one-way encoded form -- it simply cannot be restored with feasible computational capacity. So no-one can email it to you.

However, you can erase the old password and set a new one it from the recovery console, as documented here:
