locked out

i have authification error. when i turn on my computer and type in my password it doesnt work anymore. Does anyone know why im locked out?

Bad password, you can reset it by booting to root recovery mode (Hold shift at boot, select recovery mode then select root)

You can now run:

ls /home

and see your usernames. You can now run:

passwd foo; reboot

(change foo for your username).

You can now log on as foo with the new password you set.
