how do I get password to perform adminstrative task, like ubuntu software?

I tried to download ubuntu software i.e. rhythmbox and some others too. It keep asking me a password to perform adminstrative task. the password I have does not work. Can any one out there help me how I can get this password to perform or download software.

Audio is mute. The video part works but no audio. ubuntu keep asking me to download updated version of adobe flash player . When I try to download. It asks me to enter the password to perform administrative task. My password don't help me at all. so I don't have audio at all. I am having trouble to use ubuntu.

Input the password you configured when you first installed your Ubuntu OS. (It's the password you first inputted when prompted on the installation process)

if you dont remember what password you signed up with and you dont have the reinstale disk either.. what can you do
