No user notification during PGP key generation

Asked by keldo

I am using stock Ubuntu 14.10 x86_64 on a Core2Duo laptop.

When I try to create a PGP key, there's no indication that anything's happening after I enter the passphrase (twice). Looking at 'htop', I can see a process with the command 'gpg --enable-special-filenames...' so it is probably doing something, although it uses very little CPU. The key appears in seahorse after 10-odd minutes.

Is this by design or is there something wrong on my end?

A bug matching my issue description (#1278381) already exists. I have linked it to this question. However, a user comment seems to say that the bug is fixed in my version of seahorse.

Can you help with this problem?
