i lost my login keyring password

The keyring and the login password are seperate. Which is it?

i am new on ubuntu and gnome features; however, i am ok on the internet.  i entered a password in gnome (to see what it contained) and neglected to make sure i wrote the correct password down.  i guess i got confused.  i know my login password, but it is the keyring feature that i lost.  thank you.  i am trying to be better in using ubuntu and gnome.  thank you for any help you may give m.  i am the only person who uses this computer, except a relative occasionally.
