Unable to use recovered PGP key

Asked by Mannex

I had to reinstall the OS, so I exported my PGP key and reimported it. Now, it seems that Seahorse will not mark the imported key as a personal key, but only as an "Other" key. Further, it will let me encrypt files with that key, but not decrypt them. The problem is, I have a couple backed up files that are encrypted with that key. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

OK, please forgive me, but this was completely my fault. I purposefully corrupted the file so that it would not be easily recoverable, and so that I had to purposefully uncorrupt it to recover it. Thus, it was a matter of "security by obscurity" which works well when one has a brain that can remember these things. :)

Sorry for the bother.
