New upstream version, 5e7

Asked by Chad Dougherty

This is a comment rather than a question but the current SCM version appears to be 5e7 as of 2010-06-30:

http://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/SCM.html
and
http://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/SCM_ANNOUNCE.txt

The Ubuntu package is tracking an older version, 5e5. Likewise, the latest version of the corresponding SLIB is 3b3:

and
http://people.csail.mit.edu/jaffer/SLIB_ANNOUNCE.txt

I suggest you report a bug, the version may get upgraded if the differences ard improvements are significant.

Ubuntu tends not to update software just because a new version is available. Before any software makes it into the repositories it needs to be tested.

For that reason software only tends to be updated with new releases of Ubuntu unless it fixes a significant bug or adds a wanted new feature.

If you think the new version should be available report a bug explaining what is new and why we should use the latest version and it will be considered.

Can you help with this problem?
