relisys scorpio easy 3 drivers

Asked by a34fm

I have an old parallel scanner "relisys scorpio easy 3". It isn't possible to use it with "sane" so that I'm able to scan my documents or images. Are there any driver supporting this model or something similar. I am familiar with it's use and I don't want to buy a new one.

Sorry, i had a hunt around but this was about as far as i got.

I tried finding a good few places to have a rant as we need to keep hassling manufacturers to allow a good OpenSource driver to be written for each range. Even just 1 OpenSource driver would inevitably mean that everyone with a Mac or any linux could use that product range. Somehow manufacturers seem to think they have to write a lot of different drivers but we're just not like M$ and they can't understand the lack of paranoia that good secure coding brings. If we're lucky they set a couple of Windows developers to try to patch something together. Good luck finding a good place to rant so that manufacturers hear it

Tom :)

Thank's for your interest but it didn't help me.
I checked these sites but can't understand how can I install any of these drivers (even if none is suitable for my scanner).

This is an old question now and it might be worth re-posting to try to catch the attention of someone at the front-desk

If you are still having trouble with this then please post it as a new question. Only the most recent questions tend to get looked at so posting/re-posting a question just before america arrives online after work/school gives the best chance of getting a good few answers - such is the nature of the internet.

If the problem has been resolved then please follow the link to the forum thread and mark it as Solved but please give us a clue how you did manage to solve it and also use the button under where you type stuff in rather than giving me karma credit points for just sending this note to you.

Apologies, good luck and many regards from
Tom :)

I can't understand the way you are trying to communicate. Are you somehow ironic?
If so, sorry to disturb your peacefulness.
I explained, I'm a newbie in Ubuntu and don't know anything about setting up drivers and so on.
The best way to fix this problem is to find something ready for installation. If there isn't something like this, there is no way for me to solve my problem.
Sorry again, if you are angry about my manners.

No the problem is at this end. We don't have a good system for dealing with questions that aren't solved in the first day. Inevitably some questions do go on for a bit longer and i feel we fail people. Also there are some new people at the front-desk, hopefully one of them would be able to help more than i can as i am a bit stuck.

Many apologies if i sounded angry at you, my frustration is with how the Answers system is set up at this end and there's nothing i can do about that except file bug-reports which i have done and they've just been ignored - which just leaves me with an inadequate work-aroiund which i obviously need to re-phrase.

Apologies and regards from
Tom :)

Can you help with this problem?
