Epson Stylus NX215 Scanner issue

Asked by Paul Wheeler

I just bought a Epson Stylus NX215 All-in-one printer but I can not get any scanner functionality no matter what I try. One of the features of the scanner that I wanted most (which DOES work in windows) is the scan button on printer itself. Even if I cant get that to work I would still love to be able to scan things with it without using windows. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 amd64. I have already installed the drivers from avasys and they work fine for printing. I have tried Image Scan! for Linux, Xsane, and Simple Scan but they all report that there is no device found. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please tell have you already tried to install the deb packages from here: http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/download/
especially from this page: http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do

Then you must configure the /etc/sane.d/dll.conf using terminal type:

gksudo gedit /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

look for the row #epson and under that row add the "epkowa" in this way:

#epson
epkowa

Close and save, then try the iscan application under the Applications → Graphics → Imagescan for Linux

Please install an try also xsane

Can you also check if the user you are using to login have correct permission from the menu:

System→Administration→ User and groups

select the user and go to advanced setting and set all permission... go to "User Priviledges"

Than not requested but to have all starting from zero reboot your pc and retry.

No, I am the administrator of this computer so I should have all permissions necessary.
