Epson SX535 wireless printing: Mint XFCE vs Lunbutu

Hello there,

I was previously running Lubuntu 20.10 and my Epson SX535 was immediately picked up for both printing and scanning via wireless connection. I've just switched to Mint XFCE 20.1 and although again I can print wirelessly, scanning is an issue.

I raised this on the Mint Forum and it was suggested the Epson SX535 was supported by AirPrint, but not AirScan. However, it was also suggested, the reason both wireless scanning and printer works on Lubuntu is the difference in the Sane version.

Lubuntu 20.10 uses v1.0.31 - whereas Mint XFCE uses v1.0.29. Could you please confirm if this difference in version would be the reason wireless scanning with Lubuntu works, but not in Mint 20.1 (LTS).

Mint isn't supported by the Ubuntu community or Canonical in any way. I suggest you post on the Mint forum.

I understand, but could you please tell me if the difference in sane version, from v1.0.29 to v1.0.31 would effect wireless scanning for the Epson SX535? I.e. would wireless scanning work on the Epson SX535 with v1.0.29?

I did, but didn't see any mention of "epson" changes post v1.0.29. I'm guessing Lubuntu 20.04.2 LTS wouldn't work with my printer, but the 20.10 did. Was just looking for some help in understanding the differences between Sane .29 / .31, between these releases.
